posting for a friend, to a loving forever home, 19 yr old approx. 14.3h TB mare "Gem"
My friend was lied to by Gem's owner that she could be ridden despite an injury she sustained in an accident with a logging truck that sent her into a ditch 3 yrs ago.
My friend rescued her from a bad situation where Gem was living in a rock/gravel pen which resulted in bruised soles on all fours and a knee that never healed properly due to her owner self-doctoring than getting a vet involved.
In working with Gem these past 8 months her feet are healed and we were hoping that she could be lightly ridden but this is not the case. there is not much flexion in the knee and weight on her back she can't seem to take but this doesn't prevent her from having fun in the field running and kicking all be it for a bit but never coming up lame.
New things are a bit scary to her ( abandonment and neglect are just as much abuse as physical harm) but despite all that she has been through she is a real sweetheart, gentle and once she gains your trust a puppy dog.
She loves to be brushed, have her feet done all the while standing in the field with no halter craving attention. She is a bit bossy around food which other than the not being able to be ridden seems to be her only flaw.
So with that being said we are hoping to find Gem a kind, patient, horse forever home for a sweet girl to that someone special who will love her for just the way she is.
